I may be selling these sites and working full time for HTC now, but who says I can't have a little more fun giving away a great prize before I go? Last week I posted about the new Audioengine A5+ powered desktop speakers; the generous folks at Audioengine have offered up a set of these new speakers for a contest. With dual inputs (3.5mm and RCA, the latter of which is easily converted to an addition 3.5mm input with a cable) and a USB charging port, the A5+ speakers are a great companion to an endless variety of devices: desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets, smartphones, and yes, even the humble Zune. Ringing in at $399 USD, these are high-quality speakers that I guarantee will blow you away.
How do you win this contest? Simply post a comment to this discussion thread (one entry per person) telling me what your current audio solution for speakers is and how the Audioengine A5+ speakers will be better. One winner will be randomly selected from amongst all the entries and they'll get to chose either a set of black or white A5+ speakers. Due to the size and weight of this prize, it will only be shipped within the continental USA. The contest will remain open until Friday the 28th at 12 PM mountain time (GMT -7).
Best of luck everyone, and I look forward to reading some interesting entries. :-)
UPDATE: The contest is now over, and the winner is ITforSmallBiz. Thanks to everyone for entering!

Just a quick reminder that we're running a free phone give-away: there's an unlocked LG Quantum up for grabs. It's fast and easy to enter; all you need is a YouTube account. Check out this post for more details.

I have an AT&T-branded LG Quantum Windows Phone 7 to give away thanks to the generous people at LG, and I'm giving it away in a YouTube contest. You can check out the video above, but in order to enter the contest, you'll need to post your comment on the YouTube video page (along with subscribing to our YouTube channel and marking the video as a favourite). The phone is SIM-unlocked, but the contest is restricted to people in the USA and Canada. Apologies rest-of-world, but it's too expensive to ship things overseas. The winner will be randomly selected via Random.org when the number of entries reaches a minimum of 500 entries. Good luck to everyone who enters!

Just a quick reminder that the giveaway contest for a Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z is ending in roughly three hours - this all-in-one desktop computer worth $1308 USD is a fast, capable computer that would be perfect for a variety of scenarios and locations - check out my full review here. Enter the contest now!
Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Events" @ 02:00 PM
I'm a couple days late getting this contest launched - things have been hectic - but here we go! I have a top-spec Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z to give away to one lucky Thoughts Media reader/YouTube viewer.
Here are the three things you have to do to be entered in this contest:
That's it! One entry per person, and the contest closes at 5 PM GMT -7 on December 13th, 2010. Good luck everyone - the winner will be chosen randomly from amongst all the comments posted. The winner will be contacted via YouTube direct message, and will have 48 hours to respond back to me to claim their prize. If the winner hasn't fulfilled all three of the requirements above, I'll pick someone else.
Please note: due to shipping constraints, this contest is open to people in North America only. You guys know I always try to do world-wide contests, but this is a physically BIG prize so as you can imagine shipping world-wide would be a bit problematic.

Hi everyone! I need your help to win an unboxing contest that Best Buy is running on Facebook, and it’s for a good cause. Since I do a lot of those, I thought hey, why not enter? There are two grand prizes of $2500 CAD each, awarded as Best Buy gift cards. Since we’re coming up on Christmas, sharing the grand prize if I win makes sense – so I’ve publicly committed to donating half of the prize ($1250) to kids involved with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Canada. My mother works for that organization, and I’ve seen first hand the needs that some of these families have. She works with the in-school mentoring program, which pairs younger kids with senior citizen mentors. Apparently the kids are Nintendo Wii-crazy, and it’s an activity the seniors and kids can do together, so I think what I’ll do is buy as many Nintendo Wii bundles as I can with $1250 (it should be at least five of them).
I'd really appreciate the support of the Thoughts Media community, because - and I'll be blunt here - Twitter is such a noisy medium that every though yesterday the message about this contest went out to over 5000 people from three different people, nearly zero votes came as a result of it. I'm currently #3 in votes, but I could easily take a dominating lead if even 20% of you reading this decided to act. Please help!
Here’s how you can help me, and the kids, win – oh, and enter to win a $150 gift card yourself!
The winners will be announced January 3rd, 2011, and if I win, I’ll announce it here and provide details and photos of the Wii’s I purchase.
(And for the Windows Phone Thoughts readers, I'll be doing a "real" unboxing of the Focus - that was just a simplified, quick version. I've got some serious concerns about the screen...).

Hey there Thoughts Media community! I was looking through an interesting discussion thread the other day, and I found myself realizing it was somewhat difficult to figure out who was saying what. Why? Because I'm a very visual person, and when I look at a discussion thread, I see avatars before I see the posting name. Back in the phpBB days, everyone had an avatar for their profile - but since we migrated to vBulletin a couple of years ago, it seems like adding an avatar to your profile is no longer the cool thing to do. Well, I say we make it cool again!
Here's all you have to do in order to be in the running to win a $50 gift card for Amazon.com: upload an avatar to your forum profile, and post a message as a response to this post telling me what you'd use the $50 gift card for. That's it - could you possibly imagine an easier contest? :-) If you don't want to upload a picture of yourself, there are many places to find avatars online (here, here, or here for starters). Keep them tasteful, respectful, and a maximum of 100 pixels by 100 pixels in size, and 19.5 KB or smaller. Non-animated GIFs and JPEGs are supported.
One comment per person, and I'll leave this contest open for a full week, closing it down on Thursday the 29th of July at 12pm GMT -7. Let's see those avatars!

I've had a crazy week, so I'm just getting to this now, but it's important so keep reading: if you're a small or medium-sized business (SMB) owner or decision maker, please take a few minutes and complete this survey. The information is being collected by some trustworthy friends of mine at Ivy Worldwide, and when you complete the survey (I did, it took about four minutes) you'll be entered in a random drawing to win a Lenovo A70z (valued at $729 USD), an LG Bluetooth headset, an LG Bluetooth stereo headset, or an LG Bluetooth solar car kit & emergency charger. Fast, simple, and prizes to be had. What could be easier? The survey closes today (Monday) though, so act fast!

I'm giving away a Lenovo A70z worth $729 USD, courtesy of Lenovo. It's a great all-in-one desktop computer that I did an unboxing and first impressions video of, and you can win it in a random drawing. You'll be winning a brand new A70z, still in the box, not the one I used in the video. I'll be selecting a random comment posted on this YouTube video telling me why this A70z is better than the computer you currently have, or how you'd use the A70z as a secondary computer. To win, that person has to be subscribed to my YouTube channel and has to have marked the video as a favourite. I forgot to mention that you should also Like the video, so that's not part of the official rules - but doing so would be the nice thing to do. :-)
The contest starts today, and runs until midnight on the 12th (GMT -7) - I'll be randomly selecting the winner on the morning of the 13th. One entry per person, and the winner must be located in the USA or Canada. Don't forget too that this is part of a much bigger giveaway ($15,000+) so be sure to check out all the of the other sites that are giving away their own A70z's. Good luck everyone!

In a continuation of our re-launch contest, up for grabs is an HTC Imagio, a Verizon network phone, donated courtesy of the generous people at HTC. This is a really nice phone, featuring a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.6 inch 480 x 800 (WVGA) touch screen, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1500 mAh battery, a Qualcomm 528mhz CPU, 288 MB of RAM, 512 MB of on-board storage, a microSD card slot, and GPS. Oh, and that cool little kick-stand! I wish every device had a little kick-stand like that, it's great for watching videos while on a plane, etc.
Because this is a Verizon device, this contest is only open to people from the USA - sorry rest of the world! To enter to win, all you have to do is post a message telling me what phone you're using now, and in what way the HTC Imagio would be superior to your - how would it give you a better Windows Phone experience?
The contest will run until Friday, July the 2nd, at 3pm GMT -7. One entry per person, and a random drawing will determine the winner. The will will be notified via email and forum private message, and will have 72 hours to claim their prize.
UPDATE: The contest is now over, and the winner is looneytoone! I had asked how the HTC Imagio would provide a better experience than the phone you currently had, and here was looneytoone's answer:
"I am currently using a Droid. After working with Windows CE and Windows Phone, etc, I thought it was time to check out something with a "buzz" behind it and went to Android. Yet still, for some reason, I continue to follow and keep up with Windows. Has my Droid experience been good, yep! But I miss the connectibility with Exchange and other apps that I've gotten use to. Plus the camera rocks on the Imagio. I think I'd come back home if I won this great phone."
Welcome back looneytoone!

Remember that Windows Phone Thoughts re-launch contest I mentioned a couple of weeks ago? Yeah, I've had a really hard time getting to it, but here we go: the first giveaway item is courtesy of the fine people at AT&T. The prize is a Samsung Propel Pro; you can check out my review if you want to learn more about the phone. The Propel Pro is a Windows Mobile 6.1 phone, and you can check out the full specs here.
Want to win it? Post a message as a reply to this post, telling me what phone you're using right now. That's it! Because this is an AT&T phone, you need to be located in the USA to win. One post per person, and remember that if it's your first post, it will be held in moderation for about 24 hours before it's approved. This contest will close at noon (GMT -7) on the 24th of this month. Have fun!
UPDATE: The contest is now over. And the winner is...budda! As the current owner of a Motorola RAZR, the AT&T Propel Pro is a definite step up. Enjoy it, and thanks AT&T for the giveaway!

Quick reminder, contest for the Gomadic 2-in-1 Charger ends this Friday. You can check out the details and the thread here. DO NOT reply to this posting as your entry won't count unless it is to the original contest thread. Thanks!
Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Thoughts Site Updates" @ 12:00 PM
The Gomadic chargers are very slick, and we recently did a Quick Look on the 2-in-1 Charger pictured above. If you aren't familiar, the system uses what they call "Tip Exchange" so all you need is one cable and a tip for each device, instead of having to carry around separate charging cables. They pretty much cover every device know to man, or at least it seems that way (the brand list is here).
Now the folks at Gomadic are being generous enough to give away four (4) of their 2-in-1 Charging cables as well as two tips to be chosen by each winner. Since Gomadic has such wide coverage on devices, this is a network-wide contest. To win, all you have to do is go to the Tip Exchange page and pick two of the charging tips you want to go with your 2-in-1 Charger. Post the two numbers along with a reply to this post and you are entered. You MUST post the two tip numbers in your reply or your entry won't be counted.
One post per person, and the contest closes on Friday the 19th of March at 12pm Pacific time, GMT -7. This contest is world-wide with Gomadic providing the shipping. Remember that all first posts in our system are held in moderation, so if this contest entry is your first post, please wait up to 48 hours before getting concerned if your post hasn't shown up yet - it will. Winners will be contacted via private forum message, so have email notifications turned on. Winners will have 72 hours to claim their prize.

If you're one of the lucky ten mentioned, keep an eye on your inbox (and your spam folder, just in case) for an e-mail detailing how to claim your prize. A big thank you to SBSH Mobile Software for their generosity.

Congrats to HueMan, andrew_lee, txa1265 and dlindman, our winners in the XO Skins contest. Their products shipped out last week so depending on where you are, you should see something in your mailbox this week. Again, congrats and thanks for entering!Â

In case you missed dropping by Windows Phone Thoughts during the holiday season, we drew The Noughties to a close by offering five copies of SBSH PhoneWeaver 2 and five copies of SBSH GoNews 1.3. The giveaways are still under way, though not for long! Our PhoneWeaver giveaway ends in a couple of days, so if you're keen on a chance to snag this great application, be sure to enter. Our GoNews giveaway, on the other hand, ends later in the week, though now is as good a time as any to enter. Good luck, and have a great 2010!
