Microsoft Store South Coast Plaza Grand Opening Pictures

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone News" @ 11:01 AM

Today is the grand opening of the Microsoft Store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. Celebrity guests include Selena Gomez, Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian.

The doors to the mall opened up around 6:00 AM PST and people started lining up immediately. There are about 1,500 people lined up. Maybe closer to 2,000. Lines were formed in front of the store and at all four corridors around the atrium closest to the Microsoft Store. All in all, it was a great turn out and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Here are some pictures from the ground at about 9:30 AM PST.

More pictures after the break. Read more...

Windows phone 7 Zune Software Walkthrough

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Windows Phone Software" @ 06:30 PM

Curious about the Zune software experience in Windows phone 7? This video shows how it's going to work - I can't wait! Windows Media Player Mobile has been a useless piece of software in need of a complete re-write for years, so I'm happy to see it completely going away. Zune FTW! :-)

HTC Touch HD: Eye-Candy, Lots of It!

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 12:10 PM

The iPhone 3G may only be a mere two months old, but it's already looking lackluster next to the HTC Touch HD. If you're not already drooling, take a look at the video after the break, as well as the pictures at MobiFrance (translated version). As revealed on Monday, the Touch HD packs a Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528MHz processor, 288MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 5.0-megapixel camera, and a gorgeous 3.8" WVGA (480 x 800) touch screen, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, an FM radio, and a microSD slot thrown in for good measure. It's just too bad this particular version only sports 900/2100MHz HSDPA connectivity; so, if you're in the US, Australia, or anywhere else that uses 850MHz, you'll have to wait your turn.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 Hands-On

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 09:32 AM

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008...ia-x1-hands-on/

"If you asked the general public what the #1 Windows Mobile device they’re waiting for, you’d probably lose count of how many times people said XPERIA. Sony Ericcson [sic], for the first time, has entered into the Windows Mobile market, and our first impressions? Wow. You really couldn’t throw better specs on this thing if you tried. From your local flavor of UMTS/HSDPA, to an optical joystick (fire!), to a whopping 800×480 VGA screen, and even cool funky notification lights, this thing is packed! Let’s not forget the physical design of the device as it’s one of the coolest and hippest-looking phones we’ve seen in a very long time. Since our unit isn’t a production version, the software runs a little slow. Even so, in most tasks, it performs very well. We can’t wait to play with a final production unit. It has us that impressed! One major flaw, though… Do you really want to know? The keyboard!"

It's been an age since Sony Ericsson announced the XPERIA X1. And yes, believe it or not, it is actually coming, although not for a few more months. So, while you wait, head on over to BGR for some eye-candy posted by the Boy Genius himself. 800 x 480 sure is tasty.
