Pharos' Traveler 137 In Pictures

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 08:30 AM

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/...r-137-hands-on/

"Pharos' Traveller 137 is at CES and as far as well packed Windows Mobile sets go, it is pretty much at the top of the heap. We won't bore you with the specs again, but if there's anything you want in a phone, it's likely already in there. Follow the link below to get a closer look at the world's first unlocked AWS 3G handset."

Engadget scored a quick look at the feature-packed Traveler 137 while at CES. And now you can, too. Click to check out their gallery.

Glofiish V900 Hands-On

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 09:41 AM

We uh... fished around for a Glofiish V900, got one, and thought we'd take a handful of shots for your perusal. It's certainly a beast - Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, Samsung's new-ish S3C6400 CPU at 533MHz, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a microSDHC slot, an accelerometer, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, an FM tuner, an FM transmitter, TV-out, a 3.0-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, and a gorgeous VGA touch screen that isn't recessed. Oh yeah, there's also quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, along with DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB support for all that OTA TV goodness. Plenty of accessories in the box, too. Sheesh, that's a mouthful, huh? Hopefully, we didn't leave anything out.

Click on for more pics. And if you have any questions, drop 'em in this thread.

HTC Touch Pro Unboxed

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 02:45 AM

The HTC Touch Pro, widely seen as a Touch Diamond + keyboard, has come out of its shell this week. Both Engadget and Tracy & Matt have given it the unboxing treatment. Like all new toys, it has a few downsides. First, there's the thickness. It's comparable to the Tilt's (TyTN II), but if you're used to the slender build of the Touch Diamond or iPhone 3G, you'll be labelling the Touch Pro a brick the moment you set your eyes on it. Second, there's no 3.5mm headphone jack, but that's nothing new in the world of HTC. So, audiophiles, be warned: you may need an adapter or two to get the Touch Pro to play nice with your favourite cans. Third, there's the touch screen. I appreciate HTC's efforts in making Windows Mobile more touch-friendly, but having played with the iPhone and a wide range of (supposedly) touch-friendly Windows Mobile devices, I do think there's a world of difference between capacitive and non-capacitive touch screens. The Touch Pro has the latter. So while the touch experience on the Touch Pro might be great, it could certainly be better.

That said, this still seems like a solid device. Any of you own one or have played with one and care to weigh in with your thoughts? If you're interested in ordering one, our affiliate hardware store (Expansys) is expecting stock in less than two weeks.
