GPS.SOS!

Posted by Pete Paxton in "Windows Phone Software" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.jgui.net/gps.sos/index.html

"GPS.SOS! is a program for Windows Mobile phones, or Windows Phones. It allows you, in some situation, to send SMS message alert, with your current location read from GPS Receiver. The Recipient will get your alert message with your known location. He can call-back and your phone will answer automatically, and turn the speakerphone mode.If Recipient uses the same program, he can view your location on the map image in a few seconds."

This looks interesting. Right from the ol' "I've fallen and I can't get up!" days. Press the button stating GPS.SOS and it signals someone that you need assistance. There's a video on their site but I couldn't get it to play for me. There's a fully functional 7 day trial so you can give it a shot without risk. I suppose this could be useful for certain people in certain situations. If you try it, please come back and let us all know what it's like and how well it works.

Jgui - Extra Notifications

Posted by Pete Paxton in "Smartphone News" @ 07:00 AM

"This program changes the style of notifications when you miss a phone call, or receive new text messages. It just gives better enjoyment to Windows phones, and adds a bit of "spice" to your everyday phoning and messaging. Extra Notifications alerts you about event, by using one of the selected themes, which simulates computer interfaces and activities, from known motion pictures. There are plenty computer concepts in history of cinematography, better or worse. It's enjoyable to encounter some similar feelings, even in small screen of mobile device."

Hmm, I'm not quite sure just what I think of this. If you like your missed call notifications to come in the form of a movie clip, then here you go. You can get different themes for different notifications. I suppose if you're a ring tone fanatic, you may appreciate the variety of ways to be notified by your Windows Mobile device. If you decide to use it, come back and let us know what you think.

GPS.Friend Localizer Locates Friends, others, maybe anything!

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Pocket PC Software" @ 09:00 PM

"You needn't know GPS, you needn't learn too much, about this program. In just a few seconds, or a minute, you can review your position on the map, with no worry about pre-installed maps, because it's downloading from the Internet. The second, and even maybe more important, possibility of this program is, in the same short time, you can "ask" someone's phone (who has this program installed too), about his/her current location. In reply you review his/her position on the map, and the calculated distance and direction between yours."

JGUI has released a new piece of freeware that allows you to share your location, and find others via your phone. Now all you need to do is get your friends, pets, relatives, and enemies on board and you'll never wonder where they'll pop out from next.
