Microsoft Demos Apps For WP7 With Source Code

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Windows Phone Software" @ 07:00 PM

http://www.wmexperts.com/microsoft-...ranslator-board

We're a little over two months away (fingers crossed) to the launch of Windows Phone 7, and Microsoft is going full steam ahead in getting developers up to speed in getting apps ready. Just to show what's possible, MS has unveiled a number of apps including a cool Bing translator that can speak on your behalf (with requisite accent). The best thing (apart from the price: free) is that the source code for these handful of apps is available for devs to pick over and use in their own efforts. At least you can't say MS isn't trying.

Update: We're having some technical difficulties with posting the MS video on the site, but you can hit the link for a view of it.

"A light-weight application that provides access to BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Five On Demand, MSN Video and SBS directly, eliminating the requirement of a (flash-enabled) mobile browser."

If you're looking for a great way to get some media streaming goodness on your device (Say perhaps a brand new HD2?), here is a nice FREE app that can let you stream BBC, Hulu, and more. Check it out!

Application Store With 100% Free Apps

Posted by Ed Hansberry in "Windows Phone Software" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/opnmarket/

There is a new third party application store for Windows Mobile called OpnMarket. All of the apps are free. Given the charges developers have for Microsoft own Marketplace, there should be a number developers that choose to place their apps here instead.

"OpnMarket is compatible with most of the Windows Mobile Professional devices with touch-screens, once installed it lets you browse, download and install FREE applications directly on your device. OpnMarket will use you mobile network connection or a WiFi connection to download softwares to your phone. It's simple, instant and FREE !"
