"The company just sent out invitations for a "backstage" event held in New York on November 7. Microsoft's Windows Phone team, including Andy Lees and Joe Belfiore, along with other partners will be on hand to discuss the platform."

Microsoft will be holding a backstage event on November 7. The invitation states a host of partners will be in attendance for chatting and that a big thing is planned. What the big thing may be is anyone's guess at this time.

Microsoft Hopes To Woo Developers At MIX11

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone News" @ 10:15 PM

"At Mix 2011, a Web and Windows Phone app development conference in Las Vegas, Microsoft plans to hold workshops on building apps for Windows Phone 7. Boot-camp sessions begin Monday, and Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president with Microsoft's mobile business, is expected to give a keynote speech on Wednesday."

MIX11 is set to begin tomorrow and Microsoft is expected to make a major push to get potential developers to begin publishing apps for their Windows Phone 7 platform.

In their statement last month, Microsoft stated 1.5 million copies of developer tools were downloaded and 36,000 people paid to become an official developer. This has resulted in over 11,500 apps with more being added everyday. While this is a good start, Microsoft would definitely like to see more developers producing apps.

Samsung To Focus On Windows Phone 7 Over Android in 2011

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android News" @ 05:00 AM

http://news.asiaone.com/News/Latest...117-247679.html

"Next year, Samsung will introduce 15 to 20 new smart-phone models using Android, Windows, and Brada operating systems. For every 50 smart phones using Windows, it will make 24 using Android and five using Brada."

While Samsung has put together a pretty impressive lineup of Android devices, it's Windows Phone 7 that they appear to be targeting in 2011, with approximately 50% more WP7 devices than Android coming out in 2011. So is it that they see WP7 as a superior platform, or just one they want to be as heavily invested in as they are already with Android?
