Microsoft Releases App To Remotely Manage Your Server

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone News" @ 11:07 PM

http://www.itnews.com.au/News/26402...ment-tools.aspx

"The Windows Server Solutions Phone Connector offered access to servers running Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials."

Microsoft has just released an application that will allow Windows Phone 7 handsets to manage Windows Servers remotely.

In order to manage a server, an add-on application must installed on the server in addition to the application on the Windows Phone. The Windows Server Solutions Phone Connector will allow access to servers running Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials. You will be able to view alerts, manage backups and access media files.

As an FYI, due to the utility provided by this application and its ability to access your server, Microsoft stresses the importance of using a phone password to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

Technical Difficulties: Please Stand By

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Thoughts Media Status Updates" @ 09:04 AM

Hi everyone - we're having some technical problems with our server, and we're trying to iron them out. It started happening last night and as of yet we've been unable to nail it down - it's impacting our virtual server that loads images, which is why our page and forums load fast, but most of the images are broken. Apologies - we'll try to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible!

FTP Into Your Windows Mobile Phone for Free

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Pocket PC Software" @ 04:00 PM

http://www.mochasoft.dk/freeware/ftpd.htm

"Mocha FTP Server gives an easy way to copy files to/from a PDA running Windows Mobile or Pocket PC 200x
It supports the standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP) features found in most web browsers and FTP client applications."

A while back Mocha FTP was released (As you can see from the screenshot). Why post on it today? Well, it's now freeware and may help those of us who are looking for an easy way to browse our devices when they are not physically teathered to a computer (Be sure to see the license name and key at the bottom of the Mocha FTP page). What I'm interested in is if this can be run over a cellular network (it doesn't explictly say wifi only!) - anyone want to download, play, and report?
