What's Your Digital Convenience Price Threshold?

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Talk" @ 08:00 AM

In the tug of war between atoms and bits, how much does it take to sway you one way or another? Digital download or buying DVDs - which way do you roll? I bought the first episode of "Breaking Bad" on iTunes a few weeks ago, watched it yesterday, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Since I don't currently have an active Zip.ca account (it's a DVD rental service) I'd be looking at buying Breaking Bad season one. How do the numbers work out? Read more...

Snuggle Up To Paramount Digital Entertainment With Your Windows Phone 7

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 07:00 PM

"Geremie Camara, Vice President of Product Development for Paramount Digital Entertainment had the following to say: "Through our relationship with Microsoft, we're able to provide consumers new, enhanced ways to enjoy movies from anywhere on Windows Phone 7. Using Silverlight technology and adding interactive and social networking features, our enhanced movie apps transform the movie viewing experience into a true entertainment experience.""

Paramount plans to release some individual movies, as apps, on Windows Phone 7. Slashgear is reporting that each of these individual movie apps will provide not only the full movie content, but also additional bonus features and "unique experiences" found only on Windows Phone 7. Two of these features are reported to be the ability to create custom clips and to view the movie with pop-up-trivia. Microsoft's Silverlight technology underpins the new apps, which will provide interactive and social networking features. Hit the Read link for additional details, and prepare to reserve some time curled up on the couch with your phone and a mobile movie.

Stream Content From Netflix To Your Windows Phone 7 Device

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 05:30 PM

"Today, Netflix announced that its WP7 app is now live and ready to download. As with the Netflix apps for other platforms, the WP7 version is totally free and will allow you to watch streaming content on your device."

Well, there you have it. The venerable Netflix movie service is officially ready to stream content right to your new Windows Phone 7 device. The app is free and is available on the Zune Marketplace. Personally, I'm not a movie watcher on these smaller devices. I do enjoy watching short video clips such as those on YouTube, but I have yet to feel the urge to download and watch a full-length movie. I do own an Archos media player (with a 4.3" screen), that I have watched movies on, and enjoyed that a fair bit, but my current smartphone has a 3.7" screen and it just seems too small. I'd be interested in your opinion and thoughts. Do you watch movies on your smartphone device? Is this Netflix app something that you'd take advantage of?
