Yahoo Mail's IMAP Bug Is Finally Fixed

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone Software" @ 05:48 PM

http://www.withinwindows.com/2011/0...f-imap-finally/

"To quickly summarize, whenever a smartphone checked for new Yahoo mail, the server would transmit more information than needed. While not a huge problem on desktops connected to broadband, it was huge in the mobile space - a space in which carriers snipe bandwidth hogs and users oblivious to their data usage and monthly allowances."

It looks like Yahoo has finally made some changes in the way its servers communicate with handsets when polled for mail. Instead of sending back the entire message header as before, thereby causing users to use more data than necessary, the servers now only send back the requested information when polled. This is good news for Yahoo Mail users especially since most carriers are doing their best to phase out unlimited data for one to two GB plans.

Samsung Focus Touch-Screen Mystery?

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Windows Phone News" @ 04:00 AM

http://wpcentral.com/samsung-focus-...otato-or-glitch

"While the screen gets high marks, we are hearing rumblings that there may be a glitch with the touch sensativity. It seems that if you lay the Focus down on a cushioned surface (e.g. a couch) the responsiveness of the screen goes from really good to really bad fast."

How utterly strange - I've never heard of anything like this before. Any Samsung Focus owners out there care to comment? Can you reproduce this behaviour? I'd weigh in on this issue myself, but I'm still waiting for Rogers Wireless to sell me one of these phones!

"In our time playing with various handsets, we haven't found any serious problems with Windows Phone 7, but there are few things that might puzzle you."

If you've been fortunate enough to grab a Windows Phone 7 device but have had a few glitches, this article may help. it covers issues like Zune software on your desktop having a memory leak, unable to connect to Gmail, can't wirelessly sync and several others. Overall, a nice troubleshooting list for those glitches that sometimes can ruin an out of the box experience.

SMS Messages With A 2016 Date?

Posted by Ed Hansberry in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.wmexperts.com/y2016-sms-...rts+(WMExperts)

According to WMExperts, you may be seeing some text messages on your phone with the date 2016. It doesn't affect all phones, but it isn't limited to Windows Mobile devices either. T-Mobile's network appears to be unaffected. I have an HTC Touch Pro and an HTC Ozone, both on Verizon and neither of those are showing this problem either.

If you are experiencing this problem, you might want to head to the WMExperts post where there is a link to a .CAB file that will fix the issue on WinMo devices.
