"Just unveiled recently, the Xda comet is O2 Germany's latest Windows Mobile powered smartphone but Asian readers of the::unwired know the device already - it's an updated O2 Xda Atom Life. Powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the O2 Xda comet supplements O2 Germany's Xda trion (aka HTC TyTN/HTC Hermes) but unlike all the German Xda's before, this device is manufactured by Quanta. The Xda comet might be one of the fastest Windows Mobile smartphones today. Sporting a super-fast Marvell XScale PXA 270 CPU at 624 MHz and featuring amazing 1 GB ROM and 64 MB RAM (which can be extended with miniSD memory cards), the Xda comet also features triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz and dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 1900/2100 MHz with support of HSDPA phase 2 up to 3.6 Mbps. Furthermore, WiFi b/g as well as the outdated Bluetooth 1.2 are on board."

Arne Hess has some great shots of the new German o2 Xda comet and will be posting a review. Wow! I just looked at that figure again: 1 GB ROM. I think I need to learn German! If you can speak auf deutsch, it will come in handy as you glance at the o2 eJournal, page 5, which mentions the Xda comet and offers a link to this pdf for more information. According to Arne, the Comet should make it's appearance during October, but pricing has not yet been released. As an aside, I think o2 has done a great job with their interactive magazine. I'd like to see more of this, though it would currently be hard to watch on a mobile device.
