SP & PPC Mag: "Smooth Integration of Mobile Video Telephony to Windows Mobile"

Posted by Janak Parekh in "ARTICLE" @ 03:00 PM

"3G video telephony is usually implemented over the 3G-324M protocol. Today, handset manufacturers who wish to roll out a 3G UMTS or TD-SCDMA handsets are well aware that 3G-324M support is a mandatory requirement for success. As Windows Mobile gains popularity and becomes more widely deployed in Smartphones and PDAs, the smooth integration of 3G-324M in Windows Mobile is becoming more and more important. How can this be accomplished?"

With this, author Tsahi Levent-Levi, of RADVISION, delves into a technical discussion as to how to make video telephony practical in the Windows Mobile arena. He touches upon a broad array of issues, from effective data streaming rates to UI controls and effective WM integration strategies. If you're looking for a glimpse as to how some of the companies are working to bring video telephony to the WM arena, you'll want to check this out. (Despite the article alluding to Smartphone, it's pretty clear that the author is referring to any connected Windows Mobile device.) Interestingly, RADVISION's own product will apparently be integrated into F/S's Loox 830; I'm curious to see how well it works. :)
