APRIL FOOLS: SanDisk Introduces 4GB and 8GB SD and miniSD Cards

"MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, APRIL 1, 2006 – SanDisk® Corporation today introduced a new 4-gigabyte and 8-gigabyte (GB) capacity, the highest available in the market right now, for its standard SD™ and miniSD™ cards. "As consumers demand more from their PDAs and digital cameras, they will need more storage capacity," said Susan Park, retail product marketing manager for SanDisk's standard memory card line. "SanDisk's new 4-gigabyte and 8-gigabyte memory cards will offer consumers the power to store!""

SanDisk's new 4GB and 8GB SD and miniSD cards aren't cheap. Set for a mid-April release, these babies will maul your life savings at $200 to $500 a pop (depending on size and type). I was lucky enough to receive an 8GB SD prototype for review and it's working fine with my E-TEN M600 Pocket PC Phone Edition. User-accessible memory falls just short of 8GB, but regardless, there's still plenty of bytes to enjoy.

So, Apple can't even produce an 8GB iPod nano at the moment. You reckon they should just release an iPod SD to please the masses? ;)
