Airline Timetables At Your Fingertips

If you do a lot of airline travel, here's another application you might want to take a look at: the Executive Travel SkyGuide.

"The Pocket PC Timetable is a static timetable application allowing the ability to store and view airline flight schedules on products supporting the Pocket PC platform (Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc.) Some of the features include: Lookups via City Pair or City/Airport Timetable and detailed flight drill down, as well as add to calendar. The City/Airport recognition is very user friendly recognizing 3 digit airport codes and partial city names, as well as a complete menu. The Timetable includes the full dynamic route building engine found on the Windows PC Electronic Timetable."

Flight guides for the Pocket PC have been around for quite awhile, but they've typically been for individual airlines or required an active Internet connection for lookups. What seems interesting about this airline guide is that it downloads flight information directly onto the Pocket PC.

Even though that makes it easier and quicker to use, it also makes this a HUGE application -- more than 6MB. I was really anxious to see how it works, but had to install it to my storage card because I didn't have sufficient RAM. Unfortunately, I never could get it to run from the storage card. So, I'll try it again with another Pocket PC with more available RAM.

The SkyGuide Web site says that this software is currently free, but that it will eventually require a license. I couldn't find a mention of how much a license will cost (and guides like those from Zugat seem to be a bit pricey), but it's still worth a look.
