This is a Pocket PC site and normally we would categorize Smartphone 2002 posts as "off topic", but today is Smartphone Day so we'll continue making a few exceptions! ALL-locations, a Dutch company that specializes in the design and development of software applications for mobile devices, launched two Smartphone applications today: the Smartphone version of the well-known GPRS Traffic Counter, and the ALL-explorer 2.4 Smartphone Edition.

"The ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter 3.0 Smartphone Edition is a unique tool that allows Windows Powered Smartphone users to keep track of the costs they make when using a GPRS connection. ...
The ALL-explorer 2.4 Smartphone Edition, a very handy file explorer that will help users organize files and folders on the Smartphone. The ALL-explorer offers functionality similar to the Windows Explorer on desktop PCs, as well as handy features such as general information about the device such as IP number, memory usage, and battery status."

Jason sometimes has opinions (well founded, I must admit) about the size of the images I use. But I can't resist these two Smartphone images on a day like this!

ALL-LOCATIONS PRESENTS TWO NEW APPLICATIONS AT THE LAUNCH OF THE ORANGE SPV WINDOWS POWERED SMARTPHONE

JOURE, Netherlands, October 22, 2002 - ALL-locations today launched two applications at the launch of the first Microsoft Windows® Powered Smartphone in London: the Smartphone version of the well-known GPRS Traffic Counter, and the ALL-explorer 2.4 Smartphone Edition. The ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter 3.0 Smartphone Edition is a unique tool that allows Windows Powered Smartphone users to keep track of the costs they make when using a GPRS connection, thus avoiding surprises when the bill of the operator comes. "With GPRS you pay for data traffic, not for airtime. This is a different experience that people have to get used to, the GPRS Traffic Counter helps people by showing them what the actual costs are", says Pat Polise, Managing Director of ALL-locations. "When we first heard of the Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone we immediately realized the need for a utility like the GPRS Traffic Counter. Since we had already developed a similar application for the Pocket PC, it was a logical step for us to build a Smartphone Edition", Pat Polise adds. The ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter Smartphone Edition can display a graphical and textual overview of data traffic, it is able to show the history of traffic use, support numerous billing models and measure traffic speed. The second application that ALL-locations presented at the launch event is the ALL-explorer 2.4 Smartphone Edition, a very handy file explorer that will help users organize files and folders on the Smartphone. The ALL-explorer offers functionality similar to the Windows Explorer on desktop PCs, as well as handy features such as general information about the device such as IP number, memory usage, and battery status. ALL-locations' ALL-explorer application is also one of the first applications of its kind to undergo logo compliance testing and certification under Microsoft's Mobile2Market program, which provides technical and marketing support to software vendors for the development, testing and distribution of network-ready applications. Through the Mobile2Market process, the application has received the Designed for Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone logo, denoting full logo compliance with Microsoft usability, stability and security guidelines. The application is also being included in a pre-packaged application SD card distributed with the Orange SPV™ Windows Powered Smartphone. "We are convinced that the Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone is a great addition to the existing array of communication devices, addressing the needs of business people as well as the needs of the consumer. The ALL-locations GPRS Traffic Counter and the ALL-explorer are must-have utilities to accompany the Windows Powered Smartphone", Pat Polise said.
"We are delighted to work with ALL-locations as one of the first software partners to develop applications for the Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone with the support of the Microsoft Mobile2Market programme," said Robbie Wright, Director, Mobile Devices Marketing Group, Microsoft EMEA. "ALL-locations' GPRS Traffic Counter and the ALL-explorer 2.4 Smartphone Edition help users take advantage of the Smartphone's rich processing and application and storage capabilities, in addition to realising the true value of a rich, GRPS-ready voice and data device."
